It was hard for me to get to Art Central in the middle of a week day but I just happened to make it on a Wed afternoon and got to see Tibetan Buddhist monks making a traditional sand mandala. Lucky me! It is unbelievably painstaking work and the result is gorgeous. From what I understand, it takes days and the labour of a number of monks to make it, and then they scatter the sand and destroy it when it's complete...

It was very interesting going to Nuit Blanche - to be outside, downtown on a Saturday night surrounded by wonderful art and performance! Cloud was one of the grant recipients, and I kept on voting for it. I'm glad I did - all night long throngs of people went under the cloud of light bulbs pulling at all the old fashioned light cords hoping to find the one that would light up when pulled. I wasn't successful, but...

Every year I enjoy the Globalfest Fireworks Festival and this year is their 10th Anniversary so they've added an extra show! The fireworks have been spectacular all week and there are two more nights left so if you haven't seen them yet, I encourage you to get down to Elliston Park on Friday and Sunday (weather permitting).

I had a great experience seeing a free showing of an indie movie Lloyd the Conquerer which was filmed in Calgary at Eau Claire Market last night. The movie is an all out campy and cheezy comedy about Live Action Role Playing (LARP'ing). It's mostly total nerds who dress up in fantasy costumes and play fantasy games such as Dungeons & Dragons. Very nerdy indeed, but I happen to know some LARP'ers and the movie...

The project was born out of a desire for espy to do something really big to encourage participation in the Inglewood community during the Sunfest Festival. We wanted to spread something joyful to the community...

Boobs On Bikes Fashion at the Weekend to End Woman’s Cancers WALK. Calgary has the best volunteering culture, bar none. The world noticed us as we stood up, cheered and put on a great show as proud Canadians at the 1988 Winter Olympics. Since then, I noticed social and fund raising events sprang up for many great causes. Weekend to End Woman’s Cancer Walk is a BIG ONE. We, Calgarians are proud to donate our time...

I expect that I am one of the luckiest women alive to have the pleasure of being born and growing up in Calgary under the influence of a pioneering spirit. My grand-mother, Ruby May Johnstone was one of the first women who owned and operated her own business on Morley Trail NW. She imported wigs, hired many beauty operators and was known as far-away as Toronto. Morley Trail was the connector to the beginning of...

The more I think about it I realize this city is entirely my home and I like to support a community. I love working iconic places and for companies that support culture, sustainability and community.
This is my video to prove it. I am looking for a new place to offer my talents too! Which Calgary prize will it be...
